Jesus' Mercy Changes Me, We and the World

The Side of the Helpless

God is gracious – it is he who makes things right, our most compassionate God. God takes the side of the helpless; when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me. Psalm 116:5-6 Msg

God is gracious and God does make things right. But not always when or how we want.

And if God is on the side of the helpless, whose side are we on?

Jesus said that when we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, house the homeless, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, we are on the side of the helpless. (Matthew 25:34-36)

And, now Jesus might add listening to the voices of the oppressed and learning how to join him in his mercy to change me, we and the world.

Here are a couple things I’ve been listening to that take me out of my comfort zone but, I hope, into the fullness of the kingdom: Come, Lord Jesus, Come and Be Glorified.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 am for the live stream of worship. We may not be together in person, but the Spirit will bring us together in unity. It won’t be the same without YOU!

Grace be with you,
