There are many times in life where we have done something we regretted. Whether it was something that led to a fight or something that we chose not to do that led to unintended consequences. It’s commonplace to think on these times and wish we could go back and change something.
However, these moments are the ones that God uses to build us and grow us as his children.
Psalms 139: 23-24 says “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
God is constantly testing us and working to grow us so that we can best serve him and live the best life we can possibly live. When we have regret over our actions, that is God’s way of showing us that we are growing as individuals and as humans. He allows us to make mistakes so that we may learn from them and be better for it in the future. It is God’s way of slowly cleaning out the “wicked” in us.
And, no matter what we have done, God will always love us and will always be there for us to talk to. He wants the best for each and every one of us, and the tough decisions we sometimes make will never change that because “nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8: 39.
Lord, please continue to grow us. Thank you for giving us hardships to work through and thank you for continuing to love us so much that you want us to continue to grow and better ourselves. Amen.
