Jesus' Mercy Changes Me, We and the World

How does God pay attention to all that is going on in our world? Billions of people, animals and plants from the oceans to the mountaintops. And yet, we hear Jesus say in Matthew 10:29-31,

“What’s the price of a pet canary? Some loose change, right? And God cares what happens to it even more than you do. He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries.”

God knows how many hairs on our heads? I bet that means God knows the number of leaves on each tree, the feathers of each bird, petals of a flower, clouds in the sky and the grains of sand on a beach.

That’s beyond our comprehension. I can’t even keep track of how many eggs I have left when I want to bake something.

Paul writes in Romans 11: Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out.

Is there anyone around who can explain God?
Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do?
Anyone who has done him such a huge favor
    that God has to ask his advice?
Everything comes from him;
Everything happens through him;
Everything ends up in him.
Always glory! Always praise!
    Yes. Yes. Yes.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 am as gather together for worship to encounter our inconceivable God via the stream. It won’t be the same without YOU!

Grace be with you,
