“God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son… We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.” Romans 8:29 (Msg)
“We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created.” Colossians 1:15 (Msg)
Many of us are experiencing moments right now, when we are asked to step beyond ourselves, look at what we’ve learned and all we have not learned about our culture and history as a nation. We are being asked to embrace something far from anything we could have imagined. We get drawn to respond, wait, or turn away. Am I a willing servant, willing to study, willing to learn truths and unlearn destructive patterns that allow us to demean and exploit others? Doesn’t God’s word call us to be a servant to all, into a new inclusive way to live?
Nothing ever ends without something else beginning or begins without something else ending. There are empty spaces in my life where I wonder where do I, (we) go from here. Learning to trust this space is difficult. I need to know the source that grounds me is not myself, this source of life, faith, hope and love is for sharing, comes from God and comes from spending time with God, just being still. The year 2020 has been unique, in that we all seem to be on a personal journey. It’s been a year for moving into other people’s stories, not turning away. The Journey, endings and beginnings are often where we feel the most valuable and alive.
“A journey is called that because you cannot know what you will…do with what you find, or what you find will do to you.” James Baldwin
I am not asking to overcome my weakness, but to use it in some way to glorify you. Let me be aware of the many ways you reach out to help me today and let me, stand in awe of the power that you use in loving ways. Amen
