Tomorrow is the first day of spring. The changing of the seasons is always a good time to reflect.
Joyce Rupp and Macrina Wiederkehr write about this in their book, “The Circle of Life – The Heart’s Journey Through the Seasons”. “Each of the four seasons is a classroom for the heart.” “The seasons are your teachers. Hear the questions they ask. Receive their wisdom.”
“Spring is the one who awakens the silent seeds from their long winter’s sleep.” We still have a lot of snow on the ground and more to come, I’m sure, but spring is springing. The pollen alert is happening daily. We’re seeing more birds. Shoots from spring bulbs are beginning to sprout.
This Lent we are working on the practice of listening. Rupp and Wiederkehr invite us to listen to the seasons. What does spring have to teach us and share with us?
A few questions to sit with. (Pondering…more than answering.)
- What are your memories of the power of spring in your life?
- Where do you need to experience rebirth and renewal?
- What is blossoming in you?
- Where do you feel the greatest need for new blossoms?
If you were to choose a passage from scripture that speaks to you of spring, what would it be?
Spring is the time of resurrection. Receive it with a song of joy.
