Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Bishop Oscar Romero, who eventually became a martyr for his faithful leadership, speaks of the God who manages to be close to us, even when we feel very much defeated by our situations.
“God is not failing us when don’t feel God’s presence. God exists, and God exists even more the farther you feel from him. When you feel the anguished desire for God to come near because you don’t feel God present , then God is very close to your anguish. God is always our Father and never forsakes us, and we are closer to God than we think. (Oscar Romero, “The Violence of Love” trans. James R. Brockman, Farmington: Plough, 1988,131.)
See Mark 5:21-43 for further reflection.
Prayers: For all who crave new life through the resurrection truth of Christ Jesus.
