Stories. Everyone loves to hear a good story. Jesus knows that and so he often teaches using stories. In Matthew 13, he talks about sowing, planting and harvesting. Seeds. Soil.
In these stories Jesus is not literally talking about gardening, but about what might take root in our hearts.
The prophet Hosea, writes in Hosea 10:12:
Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord.
To harvest a crop of love, we need to plow up our hard hearts. Soft hearts, open minds and outstretched hands help us to prepare the soil of our lives so that good seeds might be planted. The Holy Spirit will make us grow and love will be overflowing.
We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 am MDT as we gather for worship via the stream. And we hope you will join us next Wednesday, July 15th, for The Well, as Rev. Dr. Larron Jackson helps plant seeds in us as we continue the conversation on racism.
Grace be with you,
